- The doctor will check your vital signs, listening to your heart rate and your lungs. They should also check your blood pressure. This is usually followed by an examination of your eyes, ears, mouth and reflexes.
- Blood work: It isn’t mandatory, but your doctor may ask you to give blood in order to do more detailed tests. This could happen if they notice something abnormal, if you mention a specific symptom or if it’s been awhile since you’ve visited your physician.
- Men: Depending on your age, a doctor may give you a testicular or prostate exam.
- Women: A breast or pelvic exam may be required depending on your age.
